| Monday, April 19 About 10:30 this morning, I found the 49ers wagon train heading west on 175th Street, south of Olathe, KS. Out in rural Johnson County, there were now 5 wagons, plus a truck bringing up the rear. One of the two men on horseback waved to slow the occasional approaching traffic. By the time I had taken some pictures, there was a line of cars following behind the wagon train. Some of the people in the wagons waved as they went by. They were of all ages, from children to a lady about as old as I. The people looked tired. The horses whinnied. As I watched them plod on, 4 or 5 horses in a farm field heard the wagon train horses, and galloped toward the roadside fence to check them out. |
