In Gros Morne National Park, south of Cow Head, one can see some of the remains of the S.S. Ethie which was wrecked on December 17, 1919. Click here to read more about this shipwreck. Like most shipwrecks in Newfoundland, it inspired poetry and song. A week after seeing the remains, we were in St. John's where we bought a new CD Traditional Music from Newfoundland by our friend, Graham Wells. As expected, we're enjoying the album. Seeing the wreckage gives us added meaning to cut #7: "The Wreck of the S.S. Ethie".
