Photos from August 6, 2003Portugal CoveOther views on July 25, August 4, and August 7.Royal St. John's Regatta, Quidi Vidi LakeShortly before noon, we went to Quidi Vidi Lake but with intentions to avoid the large crowd. We did so by going to the east end of the lake (see photo at left). In the afternoon, we went up Signal Hill and got a good view of the crowd (see photo at right). The crowd was estimated at 40 or 50 thousand. Pretty impressive because the population of St. John's is only 99 thousand and the entire province has only 500 thousand!
