Portugal Cove

On the first two and last two nights in Newfoundland we stayed at Beachy Cove Bed & Breakfast in Portugal Cove. You can see other views of Portugal Cove on August 6 and August 7, as well as a different perspective on August 4 when we were on the ferry to Bell Island.

Cruise on the Scademia

The Scademia is a schooner that sails from St. John's.
It's an excellent way to see the harbour, the Narrows, and whales.
A few weeks earlier, we'd have seen icebergs.

Signal Hill

Signal Hill provides an excellent view of St. John's.
It's close enough to the city for frequent visits.
We went back on August 4 and August 6.

Bowring Park

That evening we went to take in a fine performance of Othello
part of the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival.

Newman Wine Vaults

We then went to the Newman Wine Vaults where the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival
performed a dramatization of Poe's Cask of Amontillado.
There couldn't be a more appropriate location.
