Hosting

While we are capable of building sites hosted on other servers, we now have a strong preference for hosting the sites that we build. Our servers are configured in such a way as to give us web designing powers that are not generally available when the site is hosted elsewhere.

Our servers at shorock.com currently hosts over 100 web sites and are capable of hosting many more. We have 3 servers: two in Kansas City and one in Miami. The first one in Kansas City does most of the work. The second one mirrors the first and can be pressed into service on short notice in case of a problem with the first. The one in Miami provides a third backup but also monitors the others. In case of a problem with the Kansas City servers, it dispatches a text message to the cell phone of the system administrator, my son, Tom. Tom started programming computers twenty-six years ago and has been administering web servers for eleven years.
