About Exit 81 …
The name Exit 81 refers to exit 81 on I-40 in Arkansas, the exit you'd take for Russellville, the hometown of this band. Many of the band members had not yet arrived when I stopped by and recorded this version of "42 Acres". Exit 81 made their Winfield stage debut in 2001 as one of the bands chosen to fill in for the artists who couldn't make it in the wake of the events of September 11th. They went over well and were hired back in 2002. However, they're not about to give up the campground jamming that they came for in the first place. They'll make you feel right at home, Arkansas style, with their big kitchen. A large helium balloon, flying high above their camp west of River Rat, will help guide you to their camping spot.
Those playing at Exit 81 when I stopped were: Dave Lamy (guitar), Johnny Bowers (mandolin), David Norman (guitar), John Scott (bass).
