Wow! I purchased this retro relic in a silent auction from the DeWitt Village Volunteer Fire Department for $ 300.00. It was in dire need of a tune-up, but only had 30,000 miles. They stripped it of the siren, but kept all of the other bells and whistles in place. It is a 1977 Dodge Tribesman, with a 400 cubic inch gas guzzlin’ petroleum spittin’ engine. The Mayor of DeWitt notified me on the third Wednesday in September, 2004 that I had the highest bid in their silent auction. He said “We will have her ready for you in a few days”. I explained to him that I was leaving later that day for the World’s finest bluegrass festival. Within a few hours I, along with some very good friends, were buzzing down Hi-way 77 headed toward Winfield, KS. We had no idea if we would even make it to the Kansas border, but without incident we arrived ready to jam in Winfield. This September the Bandbulance will make its third trip to Winfield. If you see it in the Grove come on over and say hello. The Bandbulance received a paint job from the experts at Slama Customs in Wilber, NE. Slama Customs usually restores high dollar hot rods and big trucks, but helped me out and asked me never to tell who slapped the paint on. Do you have a classic that needs restored? Call Slama Customs @ 402-826-7142. Not only does the bandbulance get to my shows, it is the closest thing I have ever had to an R.V. It is always equipped with enough supplies to allow me to make a pot of coffee, or catch a fish. I Love this thing. Enjoy the pictures. |
