Making a post rock

To save time (and effort), a power drill was used to drill the holes.
Naturally, they didn't always have this luxury.

The next step is to put a “feather and wedge” in each hole and then tap on the wedges.
You need to listen carefully to the ringing sound as the hammer hits the wedge.

When the pitch gets high enough, you stop and wait.
You hear a quiet cracking sound.
Then, thump, a post falls off.
