The Fiasco Brothers
and Carl Miner

New: 1997 photos

Take a VolksWagen bug, insert a few guitars, a father and son. With the remaining space, insert everything they'll need to spend a few weeks on the road. You're getting the picture of a dedicated young musician. Carl and his father drove to Winfield from Oregon to spend a week or more at the Walnut Valley Festival.

Camping near the Fiasco Brothers, Carl received both encouragement and pointers from Mike Roe and others. He said he had been learning guitar from a book. It must have been quite a book, since he played very well. Carl entered the contest in 1996, and, despite giving it his best, he didn't finish "in the money" this time. He says he'll be back..... and I believe it! Some day soon, you'll see this young man up on stage collecting a guitar and trophy. I guess they'll be able to strap the trophy onto the roof, but I have no idea how he'll bring an extra guitar home.
