Scenic Roots: Bluegrass? Folk? Celtic? Gospel? Scenic Roots is a bit of each. They will take you on a scenic journey as they weave the many musical influences together to create their own blend of acoustic music. They'll take you back in time, share songs from a simpler day, when people used to gather on front porches to pick and sing together. Back to the roots of country music, when music was a passion.
Scenic Roots is comprised of the Rogers family, from Concordia, KS. Amber is thirteen and the baby of the family. She started playing fiddle when she was four. She also handles much of the lead singing. She recently began playing the hammered dulcimer and mandolin. Erin is fifteen. She plays the mountain dulcimer and sings harmony and also lead vocals. She was the Kansas state mountain dulcimer champion in 2001. Dad, or Doug, plays guitar and sings a lot of songs about food. He handles most of the talking, and is guaranteed a spot in the band until one of the girls gets a drivers license. Marci, or Mom, often runs the sound, and tries to keep Doug in line. She is responsible for getting everyone dressed and onstage at the proper time.
Ready for some toe tapping music? Ready to shed a tear as you listen to a sad, mournful song? Prepared to laugh at some whimsical lyrics? Scenic Roots will take you there. Prepare yourself for a musical journey unlike any other.
