Colby, Kansas — July 18-20, 2003

7th Annual Pickin' on the Plains

Location

Pickin' on the Plains is moving to a new location this year at the Thomas County Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds are located on Kansas Highway 25, just 3 miles north of I-70's exit 53, or approximately ½ mile south of the intersection of K-24 and K-25.

Colby is a small city in northwest Kansas with a population of approximately 5,600, situated just 53 miles east of the Colorado border, and approximately 60 miles south of the Nebraska border.

There is full service camping, electric hookup camping and unlimited dry camping at the fairgrounds. Remote camping is available at Bourquin's Campground. Motels, shopping and restaurants are located within 2 miles of the fairgrounds. The Prairie Museum of Art and History is a major attraction in Colby, and boasts the famous Kuska doll and glassware collection, and the largest barn in Kansas. In addition to unique stores in downtown Colby, the Southwind Plaza (formerly Whites Factory Outlet) has recently reopened, featuring unique shops and Kansas gifts.
