The McLemore Family is the host band for Pickin' on the Plains. Based in Colby, they're up and coming, and becoming a favorite of many in Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado. Bob (Dad) keeps the crowd on their toes with his antics and guitar picking, and Sue (Mom) has been told repeatedly that she doesn't play the banjo "like a girl"(!). Both were members of the former Echo Creek Bluegrass Band for 10 years and have enjoyed recently linking up with acquaintances from that former band. Blake and Brandon are 15 year-old twins who steal the show in this act! They attended their first festival in Winfield, KS at the ripe old age of 7 months, and have been playing upright bass and mandolin, respectively, for almost 5 years, taking up the guitar in the last year. They are extremely talented, creative and diverse, often devising showy arrangements for the group. The boys have played at the Youth Showcase at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, and are two-time winners of the youth contest at Pickin' on the Plains. They are serious about their music and plan to make it their career. They enjoy jamming, appreciate all types of music, and love meeting people. We think you'll be impressed!
