The Wabash Railroad

By and large, I'm trying to focus my limited web space on the railroads that interest me the most and trying to provide my other memorabilia to other sites that are more specific to those lines. This page is an exception to that rule. I don't have much memorabilia from the Wabash and most of what I have is not postable. My Wabash memorabilia consists largely of a cup, saucer, and an ash tray. I don't know how to post any of them.

Nevertheless, I came upon one photo in my collection that simply needed to be posted, so here it is:

Wabash dining car

You'll probably agree that this is a classy dining car. Looking at it today, I can think of nothing comparable on this side of the Atlantic, so I thought I'd share this memory of a trip in the early 1960's. While I usually rode the Santa Fe from Ottawa to KC to Chicago, on this trip, I decided to add some variety, so I took the MoPac from KC to St. Louis and the Wabash to Chicago. I'm glad I did.
