April 2007 trip to NJ

Kentucky

Central City, Kentucky

I pulled off the Western Kentucky Parkway for lunch at Wendy's. The road sign brought back memories from my youth.

Kentucky Parkways

When I got off the ferry at Hickman, Kentucky, I had about 25 miles of nice 2-lane state highways to Fulton and then from Fulton to Lexington, I had about 300 miles of extremely pleasant driving: good 4-lane highways with no tolls and little traffic. This photo is typical of the entire 300 mile trip.

Woodsongs Radio Hour

Woodsongs Radio Hour is a syndicated folk music show which is recorded each Monday night at the Kentucky Theatre in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Since I'd be in Boonville until 4 pm on Sunday, that worked into my plans well, so I made an early decision to work this into my trip plans. As the date approached, I learned that my old friend, Greg Cahill and his band The Special Consensus would be playing on the show that week. That made it even better. Then they announced that Elizabeth Cooke would be sharing the bill that week. I didn't know anything about her before the show, but did enjoy her performance, too. The show I saw recorded was show #437. They archive the show on their web site, so you can still see the show I saw.
