View toward the northeast

Looking Northeast
While many tourists visit Rockefeller Center each year, few of them are aware that some of the top executives housed in those buildings have an outdoor garden just outside their office.

Occasionally important events occurred at the Cathedral, and, while we didn't have a front -row seat, we did have a good view.

One Saturday, we were working when we heard a commotion on the street below. This was remarkable, because we were on the 17th floor and the windows were closed. Listening to the news on the radio, we realized that it was President Nixon, coming to visit his dentist in the building at the bottom of this picture. Bob Cherry opened one of the windows on the north side to get a better view. From the roof of a nearby building came the sound of a bullhorn with the words, "Close the window". A few seconds later, the statement was reiterated --- with the addition of an expletive! We then realized that very few people were at work upstairs in any of the nearby buildings (because it was Saturday), and there were Secret Service agents on the roofs keeping an eye on us.
