Don Shorock's daily routine

Look at today's news in the Hutchinson News, Lawrence Journal-World, and, if school's in session, The University Daily Kansan. When it's 7:00 am here (Central Time), I switch over to CKUA in Edmonton, Alberta.

While enjoying the music, I fix breakfast and take a shower and then head off to work at the Great Bend One-Stop Career Center.

If I'm in town that day, I usually eat lunch at home, giving me time to check the e-mail and listen to CKUA.

At 5, after work, I come home, turn on CKUA, and check the e-mail. Then I check the Prevue Channel or Yahoo or Excite to see whether the TV is worth turning on that evening. If not, I usually settle in to an evening of web design and listening to something like CKUA or catch up on shows I've missed by checking the archives of WKSU, the Bluegrass Network, or All Things Acoustic.

Weekends are a bit different.
First, I check Dirty Linen and MusiCal to see whether anything live is happening. If so, I'll go. Otherwise, I'll stay home, work on web design and listen to RealAudio®.

On Saturday morning, I start out with WMNF in Tampa, then usually listen to KGNU in Boulder, then switch over to a CBC station in St. John's, Toronto, or Edmonton or Whitehorse (each in a different time zone). On Saturday and Sunday evening, I'll listen to WKSU from 7 to 11. On Saturday evening, if I'm still up, I can tune in the Midnight Special on WFMT from Chicago. During the day on Sunday, I generally alternate between television and CBC.
