Besides Bob Biondi, this was the other Eagle Scout produced by Troop One during this era. Although three years younger than me, I knew this Scout well. After all, he's one of my two brothers. (The other one, Eric, is twelve years younger than me, so he wasn't even in kindergarten at the time of these pictures.)
Like me, Paul was an SPL of the troop and he had the Schiff experience, too, but it was called NJLITC by the time he got there.
A couple of years after this picture, Paul had a very unusual Scouting experience: during the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, he was a member of the Service Patrol that hosted the Boy Scout Pavilion at the World's Fair. It was nice to go to the World's Fair and see my own (younger) brother manning one of the exhibits.
After college, also at Ottawa University, Paul saw the draft coming, so he decided his military experience would be more pleasant as an officer. All three branches wanted him, but he chose the Air Force and has remained in the Air Force as a career officer. For many years, he drove a B-52 and then went on to become instructor-rated on the newer B-1. We drove down to Oklahoma City one day (to Tinker AFB) to see their Open House. The two featured attractions were The Thunderbirds and the new B-1 bomber. Just like at the World's Fair, there was my brother, Paul, manning the exhibit. He's still in the Air Force, as a colonel now, and he's stationed in one of our favorite cities: Albuquerque.
