Most Perfect Harmony
Most Perfect Harmony

This compact disc, released in 2003, is a collection of 17 songs related to the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-06. It was produced as a close collaboration between Cathy Barton and Dave Para, Paul and Win Grace, and Bob Dyer who bill themselves on this recording as the Discovery String Band. The songs and tunes are a combination of traditional music from the time of Lewis and Clark as well as a number of original songs written by Cathy Barton, Bob Dyer and Dave Para, many of which use traditional tunes as their musical base.

Living on the River
Living on the River

The duo's tenth recording was produced in Central Missouri and features 72 minutes of songs and tunes new and old, and guest appearances by several fine musicians in the area.
River songs have been a musical theme we have favored for years, at least since Cathy's first album, "Movin' On Down the River," released by Biscuit City Records in 1979. We have led numerous song workshops on this theme over the years. The most notable were "blue water songs" sessions 20th annual Sea Music Festival in Mystic Seaport, Conn. There are probably enough river songs on our previous albums to make a thematic compilation from them, but Cathy counted up at least a couple dozen more selections in or soon to be added to our repertoire.
Compact Disc; includes booklet.

Crazy Quilt
Crazy Quit

Our first duet album in 12 years features songs and tunes both traditional and contemporary, favored by our audiences. They come from a diversity of musical interests and a wide circle of friends, some of whom play and sing with us. This album reflects the cultural and musical crazy quilt that is Missouri. In CD and cassette, includes a 16-page booklet of words and notes.

Rebel in the Woods:
Civil War Songs From the Western Border, Vol. 2
Rebel in the Woods

Released in late 1995, this is a fine sequel to the award-winning "Johnny Whistletrigger" album of Civil War songs from the Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas region. This album has also been named a Notable Recording for 1996 by the American Library Association. Most of the selections are rare songs not previously recorded on any other Civil War album.

Johnny Whistletrigger:
Civil War Songs From the Western Border

Produced by Dave, Cathy and Bob Dyer for Big Canoe Records in 1993, this is the first-ever album of music from the Civil War in the West. Period, traditional and original songs relate to the politics, battles and guerrilla warfare that characterize the war on this side of the Mississippi. Named a 1994 Notable Recording by the American Library Association.

For All the Good People:
A Golden Ring Reunion

Released by Folk-Legacy in 1992, this album is a group project with Dave and Cathy, Ed Trickett, Sandy and Caroline Paton and Harry Tuft. Folk-Legacy published "Golden Ring" records in 1964 and again in the early 1970s, and these albums greatly influenced Dave and Cathy's music. Lots of fine songs and rich chorus singing with different folks leading the group.

Two songs by Boonville songwriter Bob Dyer were premiered on this album, which also features on the cover our reenactment of the painting "The Jolly Flatboatmen," by Missouri painter George Caleb Bingham.
